Personal Injury

A NEWS CENTER Maine story sharing the voice and experience of our client, Pam Ashby, has received regional Emmy recognition.

Christopher Costa of NEWS CENTER Maine was honored in the Multimedia Journalist category for “A Mother’s Plea for Justice,” a story that helped bring public attention to Pam’s fight for answers after the death of her son, Trevor Saunders, while he was incarcerated at the Androscoggin County Jail. Videographer Mike Novelli of Maine Life Media was also recognized in the Photographer – Long Form Content category.

While the awards recognize the journalists who told this story with care and skill, the heart of the story belongs to Pam and Trevor.

Pam has shown extraordinary courage in speaking publicly about the loss of her son and the need for accountability when people in custody are denied the medical care they need. Her willingness to share Trevor’s story has helped ensure that his life is not forgotten and that the public understands the serious questions raised by his death.

At Gideon Asen, we are grateful to the journalists who have covered this case with depth and humanity. Strong journalism plays an important role in bringing transparency to institutions, elevating the voices of families, and helping communities understand why accountability matters.
