Gideon Asen Attorney Sean Murphy Testifies Before Congress on Fatal ICE Shooting

General Law

On September 22, Gideon Asen Attorney Sean Murphy testified before members of Congress on behalf of the family of Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, who was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Biddeford, Maine, on July 13, 2026.

During the hearing, Murphy shared the devastating impact Johan’s death has had on his wife, young daughter, and parents. He recounted accompanying Johan’s parents to a funeral home and described the family’s grief as they continue to seek answers.

Murphy also revealed that a bullet fired during the shooting struck the car seat of Johan’s three-year-old daughter, who was fortunately not in the vehicle.

The testimony highlighted the family’s ongoing concerns about the investigation and the need for transparency and accountability.

Johan was not the target of the ICE enforcement operation and had no criminal history. His family continues to seek a thorough, independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Gideon Asen remains committed to standing alongside Johan’s family as they pursue justice. While nothing can undo their loss, their fight for answers is an important step toward accountability and preventing similar tragedies.
