Stephanie J. Mills, Attorney at Gideon Asen

Stephanie previously served as Chief Legal and Compliance Officer for InterMed, where she led complex contracting, legal services, and enterprise-wide compliance initiatives. In that role, she advised senior leadership and the Board of Directors on clinical risk management, strategy, and institutional decision-making. Her experience at the executive level gives her a deep understanding of how organizations evaluate exposure, defend claims, and navigate litigation.

After years of advising institutions, Stephanie chose to return her focus to representing individuals. She is driven by the opportunity to advocate directly for people facing powerful systems and to pursue accountability when standards of care and safety are not met. She now applies her institutional insight and courtroom experience to guide clients through complex litigation with clarity, preparation, and resolve.

Stephanie is known for her thoughtful, strategic approach and unwavering commitment to integrity. She combines analytical rigor with a client-centered mindset, ensuring her clients feel informed, prepared, and supported at every stage of the process.

She earned dual undergraduate degrees in Biology and Environmental Science from Tufts University and her Juris Doctor from the University of Maine School of Law.

Stephanie lives in Brunswick with her husband, Paddy, and their four children. Outside the courtroom, she enjoys time sailing and island hopping on Penobscot and Casco Bay and cheering at Maine hockey rinks throughout the winter season.
